Just last week, we at Sole Retriever were speculating on if/when Nike would give Detroit Pistons superstar Cade Cunningham his own signature sneaker. Well, it looks like our speculation was correct, as Kevin Durant's Boardroom has reported that Cade just signed a six-year extension with Nike and will be receiving his very own signature sneaker in the near future.
Drafted first overall in the 2021 NBA draft, Cade Cunningham has been a star to watch since entering the league. He suffered a season-ending injury during his sophomore campaign, but recovered swiftly and has been on fire since returning in the 2023-2024 season. Just last week, he became the first player in NBA history to record 45+ points, 10+ rebounds, 10+ assists, and 5+ steals in a single game.
As for his sneaker career, Cunningham signed a multi-year endorsement deal with Nike ahead of the NBA draft. He became a face of the Greater Than series, rocking the original Nike GT Cut and the GT Cut 3 for the majority of his games in the NBA. According to KixStats, Cade has rocked a GT Cut model in for 60% of his career. The other 40% are split between various Nike sneakers, including multiple Nike Kobes, Nike Sabrinas, and Nike Kyries.
Aside from the fact that Cade Cunningham will receive his own signature sneaker with Nike, details on the six-year extension have not been revealed. His Nike shoe is set to debut in the second half of the 2026-2027 NBA season, which falls within Nike’s Spring or Summer 2027 season. This will mark the sixth active NBA player with a Nike signature shoe, joining the likes of LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Ja Morant, and Devin Booker.
With the debut of Cade’s signature shoe so far out, it will be quite some time before we get a first glimpse at the sneaker. In the meantime, he’ll more than likely get plenty of player-exclusive Nike sneakers. For more updates on the latest happenings in the sneaker world, download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
