Nike is in a transitional period regarding its roster of signature athletes. Mirroring the passing of the torch in the NBA, stalwarts of the brand like LeBron James and Kevin Durant are nearing the end of their careers, and a new generation of talent is emerging. The new faces of Nike’s signature athlete roster include Devin Booker and Ja Morant, but there’s room for more in the near future. Could that include Cade Cunningham?

Since entering the league in 2021 as the 1st overall pick and recovering from a season-ending injury during his sophomore season, Cade Cunningham’s stock has only skyrocketed. This season, the NBA star recorded his 12th career triple-double, notching 46 points, 12 boards, and 11 assists to go with five steals and two blocks. This marked the first time in NBA history a player totaled 45+ points, 10+ rebounds, 10+ assists, and 5+ steals in a single game. Outside of this monumental feat, he’s averaging nearly 28 points and 10 assists per game in the 2025-26 campaign.

His impressive season last year saw him wearing multiple Nike player-exclusive sneakers, with many featuring his own logo with The Swoosh. According to KixStats, he’s played all 228 career NBA games in Nike sneakers, with one third of those being in the original GT Cut. A close second is the GT Cut 3 with 25.9% of his games. Perhaps the most viral PE he wore was the galaxy-themed GT Cut 3 from last year’s NBA All-Star Game.

In the modern era, most Nike and Jordan Brand athletes receive a signature sneaker in their early 20s, though there are outliers like LeBron James (18), Kevin Durant (19), Carmelo Anthony (19), and Zion Williamson (21). Devin Booker, the most recent NBA athlete to get a signature model, got his at the age of 27, one of the latest, next to Paul George whose Nike PG 1 dropped when he was 26. This puts Cade in the prime age bracket to get his own signature model and elevate the Pistons in our NBA Sneaker Power Rankings.

There’s no specific confirmation that Cade has his own sneaker on the way with Nike, but considering his star power is continuing to rise, it’s very possible this will happen. For now, we’ll continue to anticipate new Cade GT Cut 3 PEs, and maybe even GT Cut 4 colorways as the model is set to debut in January 2026.
