If you’re entering a raffle at your local skate shop to try and snag a pair of the Bluetile Skate Shop Dunks before the butterfly colorway flies away, you’ll probably end up with a regular Nike SB box. If you popped out in South Carolina for one of two in-store drops, hit on the shop’s EQL raffle, or if you happen to be a friend of the shop, you took home a box that’s even more exclusive than the shoes.
Starting with the public release special boxes, Bluetile made sure to make its shop drop featured a little extra energy, bringing out an exclusive blue mosaic shoebox with Bluetile co-branding and a Monarch butterfly graphic on top. The mosaic theme continues to the EQL pair, with Bluetile raffle winners receiving a sunset gradient red and orange colorway of the same co-branded butterfly and mosaic graphic box.
As for the friends and family pairs, Bluetile went all out for local homies and select skate shops around the country. In a YouTube video breaking down the trio of boxes, Bluetile owner David Toole showed off a hybrid butterfly box/sneaker box made in collaboration with a local woodworker, designed to be hung in the garden to help propagate local butterfly communities. Each box is hand-engraved with Bluetile and Nike SB co-branding.
The Bluetile Skate Shop x Nike SB Dunk Low Monarch special box pairs are all long gone, but some skate shops around the country still have raffles for the pair open, so make sure to stop by your local and put your name in for a pair. The shoe is also getting a SNKRS release on May 12, but that will be shipped in your standard sail box. For all the latest Nike SB collab news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever App.
