The world is clearly falling apart, but around the globe, local communities are looking out for each other, offering helping hands, and providing endless reasons to smile. In South Carolina’s skate scene, Bluetile is the home base. From its OG location in Columbia to its new(ish) location in Charleston, Bluetile is a clubhouse for the community, and its new Nike SB Dunk collab is a perfect example of why.

The Bluetile x Nike SB Dunk Low Monarch is a butterfly in sneaker form, starting with a radiant blue and black upper accented by orange, white, and black Monarch butterfly wing patterns on the inside of the lace wings added at the ankle. While SB Dunk Highs typically have detached lace wings at the ankle, the SB Dunk Low’s wings are typically stitched at the top. For Bluetile, the spread wings are more symbolic than just the local butterfly population.

In an Instagram post debuting official images of the shoe, Bluetile noted the symbolism of the Monarch butterfly in Mexican immigrant communities, where it represents strength and resiliency in faraway places. The symbolism hits close to home at Bluetile for local skater and shop family member Irving Juarez, who immigrated from Veracruz, Mexico to South Carolina. “Like the Monarch, Irving and the many immigrants like him bring color to our lives and continue to uplift the communities they serve,” the Bluetile team wrote.

The Bluetile Skateshop x Nike SB Dunk Low Monarch will be released May 2, 2026 at Bluetile Columbia, May 3, 2026 at Bluetile Charleston, and May 4, 2026 online through Bluetile’s webstore. Both in-store drops will be first-come, first-served releases. As of now, there are no details on a SNKRS or global skate shop drop date for the pair. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $135. For all the latest Nike SB collab news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever App.
