A couple of years back, researchers in South Carolina discovered a rare zoological phenomenon. Instead of their typical yearly migration, a group of monarch butterflies took up permanent residence on the coastline of South Carolina. Using the Palmetto State’s unique geological habitat, the orange and black butterflies make their home in swamps during the warmer months and then take the short flight to the beachy sea islands during the winter and fall.
That unique crew of monarchs appears to be the inspiration behind the latest Nike SB Dunk skate shop collab with South Carolina’s Bluetile Skateshop. We saw a quick preview of the shoe on the Bluetile YouTube page earlier this week, and now leakers have gotten a hold of a sample pair, showing off the butterfly wing design.

More butterfly accents are added with fuzzy caterpillar-style laces, and a butterfly graphic connecting the insoles into a single picture.
Bluetile branding is added to the heel tabs, and the South Carolina flag is featured on the underside of the tongue to complete the perfectly executed local collab colorway. At this time, we only know that the Bluetile x Nike SB Dunk Low Monarch will be released sometime in the Summer 2026 season (April-June), but as always, we’ll keep you posted on the Sole Retriever mobile app as soon as we learn more.
