Teddy Santis has been busy since being appointed the North American Creative Director for New Balance. With numerous mainline New Balances scheduled to release over the next year and still designing full-time for his ALD brand, it led many to question whether the Aime Leon Dore x New Balance collaborations would slow down. Santis put that to rest last week when he teased a couple of ALD x New Balance 991's and a whole slew of 550's.
Starting with the 991's, the first one features a brown leather upper accented by forest green suede and cream mesh. Turning attention to the midsole, this 991 opts for the classic two tone approach equipped with New Balance's Abzorb both in the forefoot and visibly exposed in the heel. Similar to its brown counterpart, the next 991 teased by Santis swaps a leather upper for grey suede. It too has the forest green suede accents and cream mesh.
Moving on to the ALD x New Balance 550's, it looks like there are three different colorways on the way. Two arrive in smooth leather, one in navy blue and the other in dark green. The final pair comes in light grey suede. Like ALD x 550's of the past, all of the upcoming colorways lean into the vintage aesthetic featuring aged midsoles and cracked leather New Balance "N's" adorn the side panels.
Expect the Aime Leon x New Balance 991's and 550's to arrive later this year. As with all ALD x New Balance's, the sneakers will likely release via Aime Leon Dore and New Balance. For more New Balance news, follow us on Twitter and download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
