We’ve seen footwear labels worldwide prepare collections that honor the Chinese zodiac for 2025, when the Lunar New Year celebrations will ring in the Year of the Snake. These capsules include performance basketball models from brands like Nike/Jordan Brand and adidas, which have given signature athletes (Jayson Tatum with Jordan Brand and James Harden and Anthony Edwards for adidas) pairs to commemorate the Chinese New Year. Adding to the list of NBA stars with snake-themed shoes for 2025 is the face of Under Armour’s basketball division, Steph Curry.
Seen here on the Curry 12, this Year of the Snake colorway expertly translates snakeskin onto the engineered mesh base layer of the performance basketball model. Black and grey hues create this snakeskin effect, while solid hits of black and grey appear on the tongue and sockliner, respectively. Back on the TPU heel counter, we see a snakeskin graphic applied below the semi-translucent panel. Down below, the Curry 12 comes complete with a red UA Flow midsole that contains a TPU plug featuring orange splatter and a tonal red UA Flow outsole.
The Under Armour Curry 12 Year of the Snake will release in January 9, 2025, through Under Armour and select retailers online and in-store exclusively in the Asia-Pacific region.
