If you’ve scrolled social media in the past year or two, watched YouTube, or stepped foot in a chain restaurant lately, you’ve probably heard about the nation’s obsession with protein. Whether you’re working towards gym gains or just enjoy red meat, the Cadillac of proteins is undeniably wagyu beef. The Japanese tradition of raising cows on strict diets with daily massages results in some of the fattiest beef possible, marbled perfectly for supreme flavor.
The global fascination with wagyu is due in large part to chef Hisato Hamada’s Tokyo restaurant collective, Wagyumafia. With over 300,000 followers on an Instagram page that drops mouthwatering content daily, the Wagyumafia team is bringing the cow out of the kitchen in a new collab with Japanese sneaker boutique atmos and Puma.
The dressy cowhide Puma Palermo continues the crew’s dedication to quality and style, designed to fit in everywhere from the finest Michelin star dining rooms to roadside food trucks. Made in Japan with only 500 pairs produced, the shoe features an athletic Puma sole and a wing tip-inspired upper clad in premium black leather from toe to heel. A Wagyumafia logo is added above the Puma stripe logo for a bit of co-branding on the dressed-up Palermo.
The atmos x Wagyumafia x Puma Palermo Made in Japan will be released January 30, 2026 through atmos in-store and online. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at approximately $240. For all the latest Puma collab news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
