The world missed a chance at basketball immortality last year, when Tyrese Haliburton’s incredible playoff run of last-second buzzer beaters came to a tragic close with an Achilles injury that has kept him sidelined ever since. While Haliburton recovers for his Pacers return, the Indiana star is rolling out his first signature shoe with Puma, and bringing out new colorways with clear references to the GOAT.
The Puma Hali 1 Grey is a Cool Grey 11 in Puma hoops form, taking the multi-shade grey color blocking made famous by Jordan and transferring to Haliburton’s Salehe Bembury-designed silhouette. Starting with light grey mesh across the upper, there’s a hit of dark grey on the toe, but steel grey on the heel panel and Big Cat logo, and an icy grey on the support structure webbing across the side panels. The midsole is clean white, with even more grey on the outsole to complete the look.

We first saw the colorway in a single in-hand shot from Bembury’s Instagram story. He later would include a photo of the shoe in an Instagram dump containing other projects he’s working on. After a bold blue Opal debut and the follow-up hibiscus pink colorway, the tonal grey pair is the first subtle, muted version of the Hali 1, built to match any and every youth hoops jersey color possible.
The Puma Hali 1 doesn’t have a release date just yet, but with Puma pushing its basketball program at full force, we expect to see this one and more Hali 1 colorways hitting shelves soon. Expect retail to be the same as other Hali 1s, $130. For all the latest NBA signature sneaker news, download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
