As a brand with roots deeply entrenched in performance running, it only makes sense that Nike will continue to innovate and push the sport forward with technological and design advancements. One of the brand’s most popular and advanced series is the Vaporfly, which first launched with the Vaporfly 4% in 2017 and now includes three different iterations: the Vaporfly NEXT% 1, 2, and 3, launched in 2019, 2021, and 2023, respectively. Nike is launching the Vaporfly 4 in 2025, continuing this two-year release cycle.
These first images of the Vaporfly 4 reveal the upcoming White Obsidian Mist rendition, which opts for a neutral and clean color palette from top to bottom. On the upper, a new knit pattern looks light, if not lighter than its predecessor, with some new design elements for the series borrowed from its cousin, the Alphafly 3. This design is apparent with the large Swoosh painted onto the upper dipping down below onto the sole of the forefoot.
Moving up, we see the lightweight tongue, which opts for a white look on the bottom half and a metallic silver, chrome-like appearance on the top half, which contains Vaporfly 4 branding. The sole unit proudly displays its ZoomX foam below through a logo on the medial side, one of Nike’s most popular and advanced foam cushioning set-ups. Integrated into the tooling is a full-length carbon fiber shank Nike dubs the Flyplate, helping runners propel forward.
Usually a "Proto" colorway will come out first, so expect more news and colorways for Nike's newest Vaporfly.
The Nike Vaporfly 4 White Obsidian Mist will release on April 3, 2025, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $260.
