The Nike Field General was a product of Nike’s American football output in the ‘80s, but it has found a new life in the lifestyle category in today’s sneaker market. While the connection to American football is strong, as evidenced by Nike marketing the sneaker with NFL stars like Jayden Daniels, it’s also found its way onto the overseas football (or soccer if you’re American) world thanks to an upcoming collab with Chelsea FC Women star Sam Kerr.
Kerr, who was born in Australia, has made it to the top of professional women’s soccer over her nearly 20-year career. She began playing for Perth FC in 2008, eventually making her way to the women’s Premier League playing for Chelsea FC Women. For her first collaborative Nike sneaker, Sam has applied a clean cream, white, and baby blue color palette to the Field General, covering the model in leather.

Cream hues line the mudguard, eyelets, and heel overlay, while the base is made of white leather. Baby blue details are found on the Swoosh, tongue lining, and heel tab, the latter displaying Sam’s signature embroidered atop Nike text. Inside, the insole features the phrases “Be Who I Am” and “Be Who You Are” split between the shoes alongside Sam’s signature once again. Underfoot sits a clear rubber midsole and outsole.
The Sam Kerr x Nike Field General Be Who You Are will release September 9, 2025, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in women’s sizing, the retail price is set at $125.
