We generally expect Nike to keep its premium materials, bold construction, and unique accessories for collabs and limited edition releases, and for this Asia-exclusive, the Swoosh went all out. The latest Nike Astrograbber doesn’t have a crazy detailed story behind it, but the red velvet rendition is anything but normal.
The Nike Astrograbber Gym Red Velvet is covered in plush red velvet across the upper, down to the tongue and Swoosh with silver studs in a variety of shapes pressed into the shoe in seemingly random spots, adding circles and three shapes of stars to the toebox, side panels, and heel. The laces on the shoe are a cream tan, the sole is black, and the sock liner is clean white. To complete the red velvet look, a red rose accessory is placed at the top of each tongue for a touch of extra elegance.

Originally released in the mid-1970s, the Astrograbber was a football shoe in an era before high-tech cleats. The shoe was reborn as a lifestyle model by fashion label Bode and has since seen a few select releases in simple, clean colorways. This velvet red rendition is by far the most experimental colorway we’ve seen.
The Asia-exclusive Nike Astrograbber Gym Red Velvet will be released Holiday 2025 through Nike and select retailers in-store and online. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is still TBD. To keep up with every new Nike drop, make sure to stay locked on the Sole Retriever mobile app.
