Nike's archive harbors a plethora of iconic models that have shaped the landscape of sneaker culture, and the Nike Air Zoom Spiridon stands as a testament to the brand's innovative spirit during the late '90s. Originally released in 1997, the Spiridon became synonymous with the era's push towards futuristic designs and advanced cushioning technologies.
Designed by Christian Tresser, the mind behind the Air Max 97 and the Yeezy 700 MNVN, the Spiridon has since seen several comebacks, each warmly received by enthusiasts and collectors alike. As we approach Holiday 2024, the sneaker community is abuzz with the news of the return of the OG Sport Red colorway, signaling yet another revival of a classic silhouette. Brendan Dunne of Complex first reported on news of this return.
This new retro of the Nike Air Zoom Spiridon OG Sport Red will feature a mix of mesh and textiles that encapsulates the spirit of its original release. The palette is predominantly a blend of neutral silvers, black, and whites, with striking sport red accents highlighting the mini Swoosh near the lateral toe and the metallic midfoot Swoosh, injecting a vibrant pulse into the overall design. The sneaker is underpinned by the celebrated Air Zoom Spiridon midsole in white, which is being utilized on Travis Scott’s Nike Shark-A-Don model, paired with a black rubber outsole.
The Nike Air Zoom Spiridon OG Sport Red will release on December 20, 2024, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men's sizing, the retail price is $160. For updates on this release and the latest in sneaker news and drops, download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
