Collaborating with partners is one of the best ways to get energy and hype around an archival model being brought to the market. Nike did just that when the Air Max Sunder retro began late last year, introducing us to GR colorways before giving streetwear brand Kids of Immigrants a shot at tweaking the cult-classic Air Max sneaker. To follow up on the Sundial and Persian Violet colorways, both of which ended up being in the conversation of sneaker of the year across social media, Kids of Immigrants is launching a third rendition in Olive Grey.
While the Sundial and Persian Violet colorways were meant to represent sunrise and sunset, respectively, this new Olive Grey color scheme comes with the nickname Concrete Sky. The likely inspiration is a play on the concrete streets and sky of Los Angeles, where Kids of Immigrants started. In these early sample images, we see what appears to be the same material makeup as the two released colorways, ripstop nylon, with the grid pattern across the upper, taking on a gradient finish that transitions from a sky blue near the top to a deep grape purple.
