Nike's Air Max archives are extensive, with the brand having released dozens of variants over the last three-plus decades. The early 2000s were marked by wild experimentation and avant-garde design languages, perfectly encapsulating the women's exclusive Air Max Craze, initially released in 2000 as a cross-training sneaker. After its retro run was revealed in the latest Nike SNKRS Showcase, images of a new White Metallic Gold colorway have emerged.
Like many of Nike's bring-backs, the pair retains the OG's look but upgrades the sneaker's internals for a better fit and feel. Stark white neoprene makes up most of the upper, with a wavy grid pattern in black and metallic gold spanning across the toe and back to the heel. The tongue shrouds its lace set with a zipper enclosure, resting below the black, white, and gold Max Air branding.
One of the most unique details of the sneaker comes back on the heel, where a back-less construction is present that would make the sneaker a slip-on if it weren’t for the added heel counter. Straying from the traditional construction, we see a padded slingback attached via TPU overlay, cupping your heel in place when worn. Finishing the design is the white foam midsole with Air units in the heel and forefoot coming in gold paired with a black, white, and gold outsole.
The Nike Air Max Craze White Metallic Gold W will release in April 2025 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in women’s sizing, the retail price is $170.
