The animal kingdom has long been an influence on the shoe industry, from crocodile-skin hard bottoms to sneakers covered in every kind of fur and scales possible. For its latest Air Max silhouette, Nike went deep into the jungle to take notes on the Poison Dart Frog, creating a new model with three layers of textured multi-tone upper and Air pods shaped like the toe pads of the small but deadly amphibian.
The result? The Nike Air Liquid Max. The latest Nike Air Max evolution, which wears its froggy inspiration on its sleeve. We first got a look at the debut inline colorway in Yeat’s latest music video and an official look at a fragment design pair, and now, we’ve got official images of the green dart frog colorway.
“For the poison dart frog, color is confidence and boldness is protection,” says Mike McCoy, the lead color designer. “We built the Nike Air Liquid Max in this image, as a silhouette that feels a little dangerous, a little mysterious — a complete break from the past, built for today’s generation.”
Using new technology called point-loaded Air, the Nike Air Liquid Max is billed as the brand’s most comfortable Air Max silhouette yet, with carefully placed air units where they’re needed and negative space contours where they're not.
