The footwear industry is no stranger to trends shifting from retro basketball models to more comfort-focused silhouettes. Classic silhouettes like the Jordan 1 and Dunk have lost their allure in favor of mesh runners like the Zoom Vomero 5, which has caused Nike to invest heavily in this category. While plenty of standard Vomero 5 colorways are on the horizon, Nike also knows that the changing seasons will force many to retire the Vomero 5 for the time being. Instead, The Swoosh introduced the Vomero 5 Roam with winterized and weather-resistant construction. Its latest makeover takes on a two-tone Elemental Pink Anthracite color scheme.
Split in half between elemental pink and anthracite; the sneaker features an updated construction ready to tackle the colder months ahead. A water-repellent textile is used on the base, coming in a pink hue that matches the suede details along the toe and eyelets. More pink is found on the leather panel on the midfoot, the Swoosh, the sockliner, and the new lacing system, which comes with an adjustable lace toggle and lace control hook.
Vomero branding is placed on the tongue pull tab in a black 3D TPU, while a mini Swoosh is on the 3M-laden heel pull tab. Starting at the rubber toe wrap, we see a black molded rubber mudguard that runs the entire length of the upper back to the TPU heel counter. Down below, the black Cushlon 3.0 and Zoom Air-cushioned foam midsole has an upgraded heel crash pad and updated traction on the outsole.
