Without a doubt, 2024 was the year of mesh runners. Every brand went hard in this category, launching new models and pumping out silhouettes from Y2K and the early 2010s. Nike's premium answer to this trend was the Vomero 5, which has become one of the more popular products from The Swoosh as retro basketball models have fallen to the wayside. Previews of pairs slated for 2025 have been hitting the ‘net for months, with the new Psychic Blue Thunder Blue colorway being the latest to appear.
Like other iterations of the performance-runner-turned-lifestyle-staple, the sneaker has a wide-spaced mesh base and synthetic leather overlays. Psychic Blue hues are present on the base layer of the sneaker, moving up toward the tongue and taking over the lace set. Thunder Blue accents mark the midfoot TPU cage, Swoosh, and sockliner.
A combo of grey and platinum hues ground the blue-based design and comes placed on the mudguard, toebox overlays, midfoot panels, and heel overlay, home to a TPU heel counter for extra support. Finishing off the sneaker is the tri-tone foam midsole with Zoom Air and Cushlon foam paired with a psychic blue and thunder blue rubber outsole.
The Nike Zoom Vomero 5 Psychic Blue Thunder Blue will release in Spring 2025 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $160.
