In 2004, the USA Olympic Basketball Team went into Greece and left with a bronze medal. The same thing happened at the 2006 FIBA Championship in Japan. So when it came time for the American hoops team to get on a plane for Beijing, China, and represent the States on the hardwood, they were out for redemption. The stacked 2008 squad featured LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade, and more, making sure to head home with the gold medal in hand, taking on the Redeem Team nickname as a reference to the 1992 Olympic Dream Team.
As Nike continues to toast The King’s career and legacy with 23 colorways of the Nike LeBron 23 inspired by integral moments from James’ life, the latest colorway is dubbed Out for Redemption, celebrating the 2008 gold medal with shiny blue and green overlays covered in all-over print graphics and golden accents. The upper is split in two, with shimmering blue on the bottom half and metallic teal green on the upper half, with both sides covered in intricate graphic detail depicting stars, wings, and more. The colorway is complete with gold and red on the toe panel Swoosh and more gold on LeBron’s signature tongue logo.
So far this year, we’ve seen Nike and LeBron roll out signature colorways inspired by the Heatles dominance, LeBron’s record-setting Christmas Day appearances, the Disney bubble championship, and more. As LBJ gets to the tail end of his illustrious career, the theme to this year’s LeBron 23 rollout is as good as it gets.
The Nike LeBron 23 Out for Redemption will be released January 30, 2025 through Nike and select retailers in-store and online. Available in adult and grade school sizing, the retail prices are set at $210 and $165, respectively.
