The NBA celebrates Martin Luther King Jr. Day every year with a focus on history, education, and a dedication to racial justice. Spotlighting Memphis, where Dr. King was killed, the league shines a spotlight on the National Civil Rights Museum and the Martin Luther King Jr. Historical Site in Atlanta, where King was born, celebrating the Civil Rights leader’s life with a full slate of games and special remembrance projects.
As Lebron James and Nike continue to work their way through 23 highlight moments from LBJ’s career with 23 personalized colorways of the Nike LeBron 23, the latest colorway, the LeBron 23 Honor the King, remembers MLK Day 2008, when LeBron dropped 51 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists against the Grizzlies.
The sneaker is covered in a monochrome coat of teal green inspired by the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, where Dr. King was assassinated, mimicking the bluish green shade of the motel’s doors. The mesh upper is covered in an all-over print in the same color to add texture. The branding accents are gold for a bit of contrast.
The Nike LeBron 23 Honor The King will be released February 24, 2026 through Nike and select retailers in-store and online. Available in adult and grade school sizing, the retail prices are set at $210 and $165, respectively. For all the latest Nike LeBron news, download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
