Kevin Durant is proud of his DMV roots, repping his hometown through community initiatives and his fashion choices. While we don’t see the NBA legend rocking silhouettes synonymous with the region, like Foamposites or NBs, he often takes inspiration from the DMV for the colorways of his signature sneaker with Nike. Now, after early images of the Air Bakin and Commanders-inspired rendition of the Nike KD 18, Durant took the floor against the Clippers wearing another pair inspired by the DMV.
While the Air Bakin pair takes inspiration from a favorite sneaker of the region, this new KD 18 is directly inspired by Durant’s hometown of Seat Plesant, Maryland. Over his career, the city has honored Durant’s achievements, including a Kevin Durant Day with a parade taking place in 2017 and the city naming a room after him at the local activity center. KD has also donated equipment to local teams, supported community activities, and even resurfaced the outdoor basketball courts where he would play as a child through the Kevin Durant Charity Foundation.
