Even though Kevin Durant has never played professional basketball for a DMV area team, his roots in the area have influenced his signature sneaker line with Nike plenty of times over the years. Outside of direct calls to his hometown of Seat Pleasant, his latest sneaker, the Nike KD 18, has taken heavy influence from the DMV’s sneaker scene. Next up is an Eggplant Nike Air Foamposite One-inspired colorway.
The DMV references are not just limited to the specific color schemes, like the International Blue Foamposite-inspired pair or the Air Bakin colorway, as the design of the sneaker itself features DMV influences. The midfoot of the sneaker is directly taken from the Air Terra Humara, a model beloved in the region, with the cage done in an iridescent, vivid purple finish akin to the Eggplant Foamposite. These panels also extend onto the toebox overlays, collar, and heel.

On the base sits a gradient mesh pattern, starting in a bright pink-purple into a dark purple as you move back. Tonal purple stitching also adds to the color scheme, while accents appear on the KD and Swoosh logos on the tongue and collar. Finishing the design is the iridescent eggplant foam midsole and an icy blue rubber outsole.
The Nike KD 18 Eggplant will release Fall 2025 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $170.
