The Nike Air Max 90 is celebrating its 35th Anniversary in 2025. However, since the Air Max 95 is being honored for its 30th birthday, the former Air Max 3 is flying under the radar. Still, Nike is releasing many new colorways of the Tinker Hatfield classic, including an upcoming Thunderstorm edition.
The Nike Air Max 90 Thunderstorm channels the natural rain-bearing cloud that causes lightning and sometimes hail. The sneaker is covered in shades of blue and comes in a thunderstorm, obsidian, glacier ice, and sea spray colorway. Vac-Tech covers the upper, providing a seamless, one-piece shell, making the sneaker more rugged than its traditional design.
The blue-based design features a rain-like graphic throughout. Jersey mesh is present on the tongue, providing breathability. Dark blue covers the Max Air cushioned midsole, housing the Air unit in the heel. A translucent sea spray outsole with hits of dark blue solid rubber finishes this pair off.
The Nike Air Max 90 Thunderstorm will release in Fall 2025 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $145.
