There are classics, and then there are Infrared 90s. The Air Max colorway to trump all Air Max colorways was the original AM 90 in 1990, and 35 years later, the grey and crimson combo not only stands the test of time but still looks better than 99% of new releases. After a strong brand-wide focus on the Air Max 95 in 2025, Nike is bringing back the OG Air Max 90 for 2026, signaling a new horizon for what is already shaping up to be a strong year for the Swoosh.
The Nike Air Max 90 Infrared needs no introduction, but for a refresher, the colorway mixes a light grey suede toe and side panel with snow white mesh toebox and ankle panels. Below the grey suede, the mudguard is done in black leather. The colorway comes together with the hits of bright crimson on the runner's toe, lower lace protection panels, tongue label, heel and side panel branding, and the midsole cutout surrounding the Air Max unit. A perfect blend of subtle paneling and bright accents, the Infrared is the ideal tri-tone shoe.
In the past couple of years, Nike has teased us with Infrared 90 rips that are close, but not quite the real thing. At the beginning of this year, there was a carbon fiber flip that reversed the colorway in sheets of tough paneling. Before that, there was an almost Infrared 90 done in Gore-Tex fabric, but however close, it wasn’t the real deal. This time, the OG colorway is back in its true form. Air Max lovers rejoice.
The Nike Air Max 90 Infrared will be released Spring 2026 through Nike and select retailers in-store and online. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $150. For all the latest Nike news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
