The Nike Air Force 1 has done everything a sneaker can do. It’s been made for hoops, remixed for luxury, and recently, padded for skating. The only thing the Air Force 1 hadn’t done was take a trip down the yellow brick road, and even that saw a shift with the release of the orange variant of the Nike Air Force 1 Low Horse of a Different Color that draws from The Wizard of Oz’s opening that features a color-shifting horse to showcase the brilliance of Technicolor. Now to follow that magical look, another colorway of the shaggy sneaker is on deck to wrap up the Year of the Horse.
Much like the initial orange colorway, designer Frank Cooke took to social media to debut the purple pair with an in-hand look. Shaggy purple pony hair covers the upper, including the eyelets, tongue, and Swoosh. Magenta stitching helps to keep the key details visible while remaining subtle enough to blend into the rest of the furry footwear.
Unlike the Savage Beast pair from 2009 that even had a flocked midsole, this colorway opts for a clean white midsole to break up the monochrome look. Much like the purple laces tipped with silver metal aglets, a purple outsole ties the look together.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low Technicolor Tale Purple Pony Hair will be released in Holiday 2026 via Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in unisex sizing, the sneaker will retail at $140. For the latest news and release dates in the world of streetwear and sneakers, download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
