After months and months of rumors, images of the Gore-Tex and Vibram-laden Nike Air Force 1 have finally arrived. And while it may look like a pretty standard AF1 from a distance, it's the advanced tech that makes it stand out.
Since the early '80s, all-white Forces have been a staple in both basketball and hip-hop culture. But unlike all the Triple Whites that came before it, this brand new version hits different. Crafted from summit white tumbled leather that's as clean as it gets, it's decorated with oversized Swooshes across the lateral and medial sidewalls. Nike Air branding is finely debossed on the tongue tag and heel badge, and everything’s tied together with a set of chunky laces for a modern update.
So far familiar, right? Well, as you may have already spotted on the brushed steel dubrae, this pair is actually lined with Gore-Tex to keep the rain out and the warmth in. To take things even further, not only is the midsole equipped with Nike's legendary Air cushioning, it’s also enhanced with a Vibram outsole. For the uninitiated, Vibram is the Italian footwear specialist responsible for some of the most durable, grippy, and weatherproof soles in the world, trusted by mountaineers and military units alike.
