The Air Force 1 has been forged for many purposes and lived a million lifetimes in its forty years of existence. Name a reason to wear a sneaker and the Air Force 1 has been retooled to fit that purpose. After building a life as a basketball shoe, the model has been adapted for skateboarding, formal wear, and a myriad of other styles.
One thing Bruce Kilgore’s sneaker wasn’t built for was walking in the eternal flames of Hell, until now that is. Nike is turning to a brimstone-based build for the Nike Air Force 1 Low ‘07 Hellfire. Dressed in a mix of dark textures and hints of red, the silhouette now finds a new afterlife.
The model builds from a black cracked leather base that already gives it a rugged look. Adding to that distressed finish are scaly, reptilian black leather overlays covering the toe, Swoosh, and heel. Red accents on the tongue tag, underside of the tongue, and AIR branding, as well as the midsole stripe, add a pop to the otherwise dark colorway.
Further enhancing the spooky sneakers are orange lenticular eyeball graphics on the heel in place of the usual Nike branding. Instead of the vertical slits of some lizards, the graphic swaps the pupils for Swooshes. A black outsole and additional laces featuring the scaly pattern complete the creepy colorway.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low 07 Hellfire is set to drop this Fall via Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $125. For the latest news and release dates in streetwear and sneakers, including Nike, download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
