After “restarting” the Nike Kobe line with the release of the Nike Kobe 8 Protro Halo in 2023, The Swoosh has blessed us with an array of Protros and new colorways across Bryant’s signature sneaker line. We’ve already got an idea of what’s coming next year from the Nike Kobe series, including a re-release of the Nike Kobe 1 Protro 81 Point Game, but Sole Retriever can confirm another Kobe sneaker making a comeback next year. For the first time, the Nike Kobe 8 Year of the Horse is getting a Protro release.
Over its history, the Nike Kobe line has paid homage to the Chinese New Year through special colorways tied to that specific year’s zodiac sign. 2025 saw the Year of the Snake honored on the Nike Kobe 5 Protro in multiple colorways, while previous years included the Year of the Dragon (2012), Year of the Snake (2013), and Year of the Horse (2014).
