Kevin Durant’s signature sneaker line with Nike has long paid tribute to those who affected his life, particularly the women who helped shape Durant into the man he is today. We all know of the Aunt Pearl series, which has been ongoing for over a decade, but more recently, Durant has looked toward his mother and grandmother to inspire sneaker releases. While Wanda, Durant’s mother, was once honored on the KD 16, his grandmother, Barbara A. Davis, has received her colorways of the KD 15 and 16. Now, Barbara is getting her own KD 17 colorway.
Continuing with the lilac theme found on previous B.A.D. colorways, the silhouette retains its engineered mesh base but sees some elevated materials. On the base, the lilac mesh transitions into a deeper purple hue as you move back toward the midfoot, passing by the Air Max Plus-inspired TPU overlays in purple. A satin velvet material is present along the tongue, surrounding the KD-branded tongue tag and the tonal lace set.
Along the midfoot, the Swoosh logo cuts back into the leather heel tab, which comes in tonal purple shades to keep the theme coherent throughout. While the pair is meant to pay tribute to KD’s grandmother, the model is devoid of any nods directly to Barbara, like the last releases, which featured B.A.D. text on the insole. Nike gives the sole unit a tonal purple makeover and a matching clear rubber outsole to complete the look.
The Nike KD 17 B.A.D. was released on January 1, 2025, and is available now through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is $150.
