Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Miami Heat tenure isn’t off to the hottest start despite his Herculean efforts. The Heat have fallen to 0-4 to start the Giannis era, including a loss to the Dallas Mavericks on a night when he dropped a triple-double. While his team may have some early-season jitters, Giannis’ sneaker line is continuing to stuff the stat sheet with new colorways of the Nike Giannis Freak 8. The upcoming Wolf Grey Hyper Grape colorway calls back to the halcyon days of retro gaming.
The Nike Giannis Freak 8 Wolf Grey Hyper Grape takes it back to the 16-bit era with a Super Nintendo-esque colorway. A dark grey mesh upper wraps around from the side panel and across the toe. A deep purple pops up on the lenticular Swoosh and tongue. A lighter shade of grey graces the mesh heel counter like the multiple shades of grey on Nintendo’s iconic 1991 system. That same shade of light grey makes an appearance on the textured portion of the midsole.

Making that homage even clearer is the wing-like sculpted midsole that comes dressed in a pink-to-purple gradient before flowing into a translucent light purple outsole. That trio of colors on the sole unit plus the purple found on the upper perfectly mirrors the face buttons found on the iconic gaming console. Though nowhere to be found on the Super Nintendo itself, bright green pops on the Giannis branding on the tongue, heel, and the outsole complete the look.
The Nike Giannis Freak 8 Wolf Grey Hyper Grape will be released in Holiday 2026 via Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price has been set at $115.
