Ahead of the Chinese New Year celebrations in early 2025, Nike has been prepping a collection of footwear to commemorate next year’s zodiac — the Year of the Snake. So far, we’ve seen previews of pairs for men, women, and children across staple silhouettes like the Dunk Low and Air Force 1 and new takes on the Kobe 5 and Air Max DN. Adding to the women’s exclusive variants is another snake-themed Dunk Low colorway.
Smooth leather overlays gracing the mudguard, eyestays, and heel overlay all come in a burgundy hue that sharply contrasts the golden hues found along both the mini Swoosh on the toe and the suede Swoosh on the midfoot. More golden details land on the tongue's top and the quilted sockliner, which also features a red snakeskin Nike-branded tag. This Dunk sees a split design for lacing with standard flat laces in a cream hue on the bottom half and a golden shade on the rope laces on the top half.
Grounding the design are the sail leather panels on the toebox, midfoot, and collar. However, Nike still has a few more nods to the Chinese zodiac on the sneaker, as seen on the end of the Swoosh with a snake-inspired red embroidery, the custom snake-themed branding on the insole, and the good luck knots added in the packaging. Finishing the sneaker is a sail rubber midsole paired with a semi-translucent team gold rubber outsole.
The Nike Dunk Low LX Year of the Snake W will release in Spring 2025 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in women’s sizing, the retail price is $135.
