Despite a dip in the enthusiasm that once surrounded the Dunk Low silhouette, Nike remains committed to refreshing the model with novel interpretations. Following the reveal of distinct variations like the Give Her Flowers, Sunset Orange, and Waffle, the Dunk Low welcomes a sophisticated addition to its lineage – the Lux Grandma in a sleek Black colorway. This release is part of a broader Lux Grandma theme, which also graces the Air Max 1 and two Dunk Lows, one in Gorge Green and another in Ale Brown.
This design marries the nostalgia of the Dunk Low with luxurious detailing, making it a standout piece in any sneaker collection. The upper boasts a sumptuous black patent leather, intricately embossed with a faux crocodile skin texture. This exotic touch is applied to key areas of the sneaker – the mudguard, eyestays, heel, and the iconic Swoosh, as well as the heel tab, adding depth and tactile quality to the design.
Beneath this patent leather layer lies a phantom-shaded leather base, extending seamlessly to the sockliner and tongue. This subtle contrast between the black and phantom hues creates a sophisticated monochromatic palette. An additional layer of luxury is introduced with gold accents, which adorn the Nike branding on the tongue, providing a touch of luxury and drawing the eye. The design is completed with a practical yet stylish phantom midsole, paired effortlessly with a gum rubber outsole.
The Nike Dunk Low LX Lux Grandma Black W will release in April 2024 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in women’s sizing, the retail price is set at $135.
