Lucky for us, Sean McDowell chose to vacation in Florida, and his trip to the Sunshine State helped inspire the design for the iconic Nike Air Max Plus. Original colorways for the model in 1998 are notable for their vibrant color schemes and gradient patterns, with one of the most famous being the original Sunset colorway. Following a retro of this original release, Nike plans to return another OG rendition of the Air Max Plus in 2025 with the Hyper Blue pair.
Coming identical to the pair that dropped back in the late ‘90s, the colorway comes with a mesh base with a light blue to dark blue color shift as you move back from the toe to the heel. Above sit the palm tree-inspired TPU overlays, wrapping around the toebox, midfoot, and heel in a contrasting black hue. Another pop of color is the yellow details along the midfoot Swoosh and the Nike Air logo on the tongue, while the heel comes with the classic yellow Tuned Air logo.
Running along the edge of the upper and sole unit is a black textured leather mudguard reinforced with a clear TPU near the toebox. Final details on the upper include the black lace set, sockliner, and tonal blue finish applied to the tongue. Down below, the midsole has exposed Tuned Air units near the forefoot and heel, surrounded by white foam, a blue TPU shank, and black foam.
The Nike Air Max Plus OG Hyper Blue was released on January 20, 2025, and is available now through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is $180.
