This All-Star Colorway of the Nike SB P Rod 1 is a Love Letter to Kobe Bryant

Pro skater Paul Rodriguez is an LA original. The son of the actor and comedian with the same name, P Rod was born and raised in Southern California and has turned his love for all things LA into one of the driving forces of his public image. Now, as Nike SB continues to retro and roll out new colorways of P Rod’s first signature sneaker, the LA native is showing love to his favorite basketball player and larger-than-life Los Angeles legend, Kobe Bryant.

The Nike SB Paul Rodriguez Zoom Air Low Sport Red Metallic Gold was first seen in leaked photos on Instagram, with P Rod then reposting the early photos on his own IG Story with the caption “Well, I guess the cats out the bag.” The all-red colorway is a shoutout to the 2011 NBA All-Star Western Conference jerseys, combining an upper full of red suede with gold branding on the Swoosh and tongue label, just like the lettering on the jerseys. The All-Star shoe is finished with a “West” lace lock and maroon accents on the midsole, heel tab, and tongue label.

Rodriguez has never been shy about his love for Kobe, and in 2009, the skate superstar got the chance to work with his idol, pulling a Kobe cameo for his iconic Ice Cube-soundtracked “Today Was a Good Day” Nike SB commercial. Kobe had a long history with Nike SB, including a collab colorway on Eric Koston’s first SB signature shoe. We knew there was a reason PRod picked Nike.

The Nike SB Paul Rodriguez Zoom Air Low Sport Red Metallic Gold will be released Spring 2026, just in time for NBA All-Star Weekend, which happens to be in LA this year, through Nike and select Nike SB retailers.
