When Nike SB entered the skate scene in the early 2000s, skateboarders scoffed at the idea of a giant sportswear brand like Nike trying to enter the niche subculture. With the help of team riders like Paul Rodriguez, Nike SB was able to gain credit within the scene. This early period marked the introduction of the now-iconic Nike SB Dunk and the first signature sneaker from a Nike SB team rider — the Nike SB P-Rod 1. Now, 20 years later, the original silhouette is getting a second retro in 2025.
In 2015, Nike SB retroed the P-Rod 1 in the OG White Black colorway, with the image shared by Rodriguez being the 2025 version of this colorway. While this new release seems to be a 1:1 recreation at first glance, there are some noticeable differences. The Nike SB branding and top eyelet come with a metallic silver finish instead of the white look on the original and the 2015 re-release.
Other differences include the slimmer shape and the clear finish on the rubber outsole. What remains constant are the white leather panels around the upper, most of which are smooth sans the textured heel overlay. The Zoom Air-cushioned midsole finishes the design with an exposed Air unit in the heel paired with the aforementioned clear rubber outsole.
The Nike SB Paul Rodriguez Zoom Air Low QS White Black will release in Spring 2025 through Nike SB retailers and possibly via Nike SNKRS online. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $110.
