If you’ve ever been to New Mexico, you know the question that comes with nearly every meal (the good ones, at least) - red, green, or Christmas? Referring to the salsa smothered on your dish, the chilis that make up the red and green colors are the pride of the Southwest state: the Hatch chili. On the latest pair of Dunk Lows, Nike SB made its choice clear.
The Nike SB Dunk Low Hatch Chili first arrived in leaked preview images in the spring, and now, as we get ready for the shoe’s release, Nike has a full set of images of the pair and a backstory that makes the flaming heel graphic and burning mouth insole art make sense. Taking inspiration from the early stages of New Mexico’s favorite plant, green hatch chilis are known for their use in every part of Southwestern regional Mexican cuisine.

On the Hatch Chili SB Dunk, Nike SB converted the pepper’s maturing process onto the upper, starting with yellow at the heel, evolving into tan in the middle, and finally getting ripe in green at the toebox. The yellow Nike logo on the heel is made of flames reminiscent of the Thrasher logo, and a black and white lips graphic is spitting red flames after a particularly hot bite.
The Nike SB Dunk Low Hatch Chili will be released Fall 2026 through Nike and select skate shops, in-store and online. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $130. For all the latest Nike SB news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever App.
