Pro skater Ish Cepeda grew up in Florida, not far from the Kennedy Space Center. So when it came time for science class, it only made sense that Ish was drawn towards the space travel that lifted off from his proverbial backyard. Instead of taking off with NASA, Cepeda settled for a career on the other side of gravity’s pull, but never let go of his love for all things intergalactic.
The space travel obsession influenced Cepeda to name his clothing-turned-skateboards brand Gas Giants after the massive planets made of hydrogen and helium, and for the brand’s first sneaker collaboration with Cepeda’s sponsor, New Balance Numeric, he chose a colorway based on a NASA Apollo Moon Suit.

A hit of metallic silver is added to the “N” on the side panel and the heel tab, like the suit's gloves and feet, while hits of blue and black are added to the heelside of the shoe, replicating the valves and accessories on the space suit. A Gas Giants logo is added to the tongue tag, and a “Roll Before Take Off” tag hangs from the top lace loop.
