Andrew Reynolds is famously sober. The legendary pro skater and Baker Skateboarders owner was a notorious partyer in his younger days, but he kicked the habit decades ago and, these days, prefers smoothies to shots or sour diesel. Still, that doesn’t mean New Balance can’t look towards the fungi for a mushroom-themed colorway of Reynolds’ signature shoe.
Taking inspiration from the world of non-intoxicating mushrooms, the New Balance Andrew Reynolds 933 Mushroom New Spruce brings out earth tones for the colder months, combining multiple shades of brown, tan, and pale green for a foraging-ready mix. The toe, lace, and ollie protection panels get a sublime brown suede, with seafoam green mesh on the toebox, a lighter shade of almost yellow green on the reinforced side panel, a strip of seafoam suede beneath that, and cream leather and deep brown pebbled leather stability panels surrounding the heel. The colorway has a lot going on, but the colors are all subtle enough to blend well.
