New Balance introduced a $250 walking shoe, the New Balance Allerdale Made in UK, and to the surprise of many, it’s been successful. Colorways have been selling out, and of course, with the elevated aesthetic that the sneaker is looking to achieve, pairs have leaned into neutral, monochromatic color palettes. However, the Allerdale is now undergoing its first collaborative makeover with help from London-based label Drake’s.
Established by Michael Drake in East London in 1977, Drake’s has become world-renowned for its soft tailoring, traditional knitwear, and premium “Relaxed Elegance” ethos. The label’s first foray into collaborative footwear with New Balance sees the Allerdale done up in ultra-premium tumbled leather and suede, with an array of colors landing on the upper. Natural brown leathers are found on the toebox and collar, while the mudguard and heel overlay come in a deep chocolate brown hue.
