Entering the new year, New Balance is poised to continue its hot run as the Boston-based footwear label has already prepped multiple upcoming collaborations. While we await images of Joe Freshgoods’ upcoming 992 project, fellow New England area natives Concepts have teased another New Balance 740 collaboration.
Concepts continue the color palette seen on its last two New Balance projects, the 1906U, and the 740 Saignée, with the latter taking inspiration from the champagne creation process. This pair, with its name Brut, translating to “raw” in English from French, also continues the champagne theme, with Brut referring to the driest sparkling wine classification. A more tame color scheme that forgoes the vibrant, bubbly pinks seen on the last pair is present here, coating the recently revived mesh runner in olive and green hues.

A dark olive finish is applied to the mesh base, with the synthetic leather overlays near the toe, midfoot, and heel contrasting in lighter green hues. More green tones continue onto the suede N logo, the lace set, eyestays, and sockliner, all broken up by a pop of orange along the tongue. Like the last Concepts New Balance 740, this pair seems to forgo co-branded details, instead opting for the traditional New Balance 740 logos on the tongue, lateral heel, and heel tab. Underfoot, the silhouette is complete with a blacked-out Abzorb-cushioned midsole directly borrowed from another budget-friendly New Balance model, the New Balance 530.
The Concepts x New Balance 740 Brut will release on January 10, 2025, through Concepts online and in-store. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $120.
