New Balance’s archival designs have been repurposed for the modern day as the label continues to bring back older styles with retooled sole units. One of the latest revivals is the New Balance 740, an early 2010s mesh runner that has reemerged as this market segment continues to maintain its hot streak. Now, NB is giving the sneaker a clean Blue Agate makeover.
The sneaker features a two-tone open-spaced mesh base and comes with blue agate shades below a white sandwich mesh to create a 3D-esque finish. Metallic Silver overlays, leaning into the current Y2K trends, coat the leather overlays on the mudguard, eyelets, and heel, each lined with hits of blue. More blue details appear on the midfoot N logo, which comes in two different shades, while the nylon lace loops, branding on the tongue, and 740 text near the hel continue this combo.

Solid white hues are on the lace set and heel counter, the latter lined in synthetic metallic silver leather and pops of light blue on the panel above. Below, the sneaker features a white Abzorb-cushioned midsole with pops of blue on the heel and midfoot shank and a tonal blue rubber outsole.
The New Balance 740 Blue Agate will release on January 31, 2025, through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $110.
