Though there’s still a market for chunky “dad shoes,” New Balance is making sure it's covering all of its bases. Women’s fashion trends have seen the emergence of low-profile, thin-sole sneakers, with NB actually being one of the brands that helped spark this new trend via its collaboration with Miu Miu on the 530L. Most can’t justify the over $1,000 price tag those sneakers fetch, so New Balance has dropped a much more affordable and accessible model in the 204L.
The sneaker, seen here in the Timberwolf colorway, officially debuted today thanks to New Balance’s latest ambassador, Rosalía, who wore it in its Mushroom colorway. This rendition opts for a clean monochromatic cream color palette across its multi-paneled suede upper. 204L branding details are found on the lateral heel, while more references to NB are located on the vamp, tongue tag, and insole. The ‘70s-inspired running upper is paired with a thin foam midsole in a tonal cream finish. Below that sits a dotted rubber outsole that borrows its traction pattern and design from ‘70s and early 2000s runners.
The New Balance 204L Timberwolf will release August 13, 2025, through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $110.
