While fashion circles reached down and began introducing New Balance into their footwear rotation, the Boston-based brand saw an opportunity to meet the needs of a more fashion-focused consumer. That’s where the 1906L Loafer comes in, the loafer version of New Balance’s ever-popular 1906R model that first dropped back in September in a classic Metallic Silver colorway. Even with the criticism on social media, the silent majority have taken a liking to the sneaker as its two follow-up colorways instantly sold out, just like the original. To kick off 2025, NB is dropping a fourth GR rendition of the sneaker in Silver Metallic Dark Juniper.
Featuring a mesh, leather, and TPU construction akin to its 1906R cousin, the silhouette sees a mixture of blue and teal-green shades alongside neutral metallic silver and grey hues. Metallic silver details land on the mudguard, TPU heel counter, and the interior lining of the grey midfoot panels. Below this sits a mixture of meshes that swap between blue and teal-green colorways on the midfoot base and along the toebox.
Blue leather appears on the forefoot leather strap and the leather collar, while the inside comes in black alongside white, black, and red 1906L branding. Other nods to NB are found via the small N logo on the toebox, the 1906L logo on the lateral heel, and the NB logo on the heel tab. Underfoot, the silhouette retains the 860v2 midsole found on the 1906R, taking on a cream, teal green, and silver finish alongside a tonal rubber outsole.
The New Balance 1906L Silver Metallic Dark Juniper will release in January 2025 through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. A New Year’s Day release will occur via Sneaker Politics, which currently hosts a raffle, while select shops have already released the pair online. Expect a drop through New Balance and other retailers in the coming weeks for a $160 price tag.
