When New Balance introduced the world to the 990 silhouette in 1982, they birthed what would become the staple franchise series of NB. Six versions later, the 990 still headlines the brand’s Made in USA division, which Aime Leon Dore founder and frequent New Balance collaborator Teddy Santis helms. Following up on a drop of two 992s and a 990v6, the latest 990v6 in Santis’ season 7 collection has appeared.
Dipping the Made in USA silhouette in deep navy hues, New Balance opts for clean black and white accents against this navy, or as NB puts it, inkwell color palette. The titular hue envelops the premium pigskin suede on the mudguard, midfoot, heel overlay, and eyelets, while a knit mesh on the base comes in a tonal hue. Grounding the design are toebox and collar overlays in black shades, with the ones on the toe done in dark black and the ones around the collar in a lighter black, almost grey hue.

Branding remains consistent with other 990v6s, with the midfoot N logo rendered in navy and white, New Balance 990v6 text on the tongue done in silver, and the 990 stamp on the lateral heel dipped in metallic silver. Made in USA marks are found on a light blue heel counter, while the sneaker is complete with a white, grey, and cream midsole featuring FuelCell and ENCAP cushioning.
The New Balance 990v6 Made in USA Inkwell Black will release on June 12, 2025, through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $200.
