Sure, the 990v6 might be the newest chapter in New Balance’s iconic 99X lineage, but it doesn’t just build on its predecessors – it elevates everything that made the past five generations so timeless. If, for some reason, you still don’t have a pair in your rotation, the upcoming New Balance 990v6 Made in USA Driftwood Timberwolf might finally be the one to change that.
Dressed in an earthy, autumn-ready palette, this 990v6 sits atop a creamy timberwolf mesh base with panels of perforated leather along the sidewalls and buttery driftwood suede wrapping around the upper for a premium finish.
Crisp white cotton laces pull everything together, while the oversized “N” logo makes a bold statement on each flank. Around the heel, a soft pale yellow tab printed with the stars and stripes proudly nods to its American craftsmanship – a hallmark of NB’s legendary Made in USA series.

Adam Cheung is a writer and editor who specialises in sneakers and streetwear. Over the past few years, he's curated features and guides for everyone from Burberry to Nike. Often travelling between the UK and Hong Kong, don't be too surprised if you find Adam anywhere else around the world taking street photography or feasting on the local delicacies.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a true 990 without the comfort tech to back it up. While previous versions were known for plush cushioning, the 990v6 takes things to another level with FuelCell foam for a more propulsive stride and ENCAP midsole cushioning, which blends lightweight foam with a tough polyurethane rim for all-day support. It’s a shoe that doesn’t just look premium – it performs like it too.
The New Balance 990v6 Made in USA Driftwood Timberwolf will be released October 30, 2025 via New Balance and select retailers. Retail is set at $200. For your best shot at copping a pair, make sure to download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
