The latest upgrade to the standard 990, the 990v6, first emerged at the end of 2022 and has since become an integral part of the Made in USA series launch calendar, appearing in various inline and collaborative versions. Following an official look at the Sunrise Rose colorway, the sneaker appeared in a new Black Grey makeup.
While the thought of a black and grey New Balance 990v6 seems normal, this pair is anything but. For starters, the upper features patent leather overlays in black along the toe and midfoot, marking a first for the v6. Branding details are also changed, with the lateral collar removing the 990 stamp and the tongue tag changing the New Balance font into a retro 8-bit-inspired text.
