The Justin Saunders-led design studio JJJJound has perfectly executed its minimalist mission when it comes to collaborations. Every one of the brand's projects could very well be a standard GR product, but they've garnered a cult following through the use of elevated materials and keeping the products limited. JJJJound's newest New Balance project is they're the Gore-Tex-covered New Balance 2002R, this time in a Triple Black color scheme.
Unlike the previous JJJJound x New Balance 2002R Gore-Tex collection, which saw a Pine and Charcoal colorway, this new pair opts for leather overlays instead of suede. Below these Gore-Tex-coated leather panels, which aid in water resistance, we see mesh peeking through along the toebox, the front of the midfoot, and the collar. The same mesh is also utilized on the tongue, which lacks any branding details and features a lace lock setup for easy adjustments on the fly.
