New Balance doesn’t need to wait for Grey Day to give a classic sneaker the brand’s most traditional shades. Staying in the NB family’s rock-inspired wheelhouse, the latest premium Made in UK colorway of the 991v2 is a tri-tone mix of dark and light greys mingling in mesh and suede.
The New Balance 991v2 Made in UK Forged Iron starts with dark grey suede on the toe, side panels, and heel, with New Balance’s classic light grey shade on the mesh covering the toebox and tongue, and peeking through at the top of the side panel and ankle. A steelier shade of sleek grey is added to the reflective toebox support paneling, heel tab, and tongue labels.

New Balance’s celebration of all things grey is reserved for May of every year, when the Boston-based brand brings out the cement tone on as many silhouettes as possible, paying tribute to the light grey shade that made the brand famous. In the meantime, though, the brand doesn’t discriminate for the rest of the year, adding as much grey as possible at every turn.
The New Balance 991v2 Made in UK Forged Iron will be released February 2026 through New Balance and select retailers in-store and online. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $250. For all the latest New Balance news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
