Dipping into the vault has been a recipe for success for New Balance, with the brand reaching throughout its archives to revive models that have found new love in the modern era of sneaker culture. The New Balance 1000, originally released in 1999 to little fanfare, has found new life and has become one of the brand’s more popular retro runners, launching in various colorways since its comeback in 2024. Its latest makeover is one of its most colorful, as a bright Dragon Berry is applied to the model.
Unlike the upcoming New Balance 2000 Dragon Berry, this 1000 reserves the pink shades for the overlays, covering the leather paneling on the toe, midfoot, heel, and tongue in this hue. Below this sits a cream mesh base layer, complementing the outline of the silver N logo and the lace set. Metallic silver and grey details come embroidered onto the wavy panels and find a home on the nylon lace loops.

More New Balance and 1000 branding throughout the upper takes on varying hues: white on the lateral toe’s 1000 text, grey on the New Balance and 1000 text on the heel, and pink on the New Balance 1000 logo atop the tongue. Finishing the upper are the cream and grey hues on the heel and internal heel counter. Down below, the Abzorb-cushioned foam midsole takes on a grey hue, and the rubber outsole contrasts this with a black finish.
The New Balance 1000 Dragon Berry will release April 2025 through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $150.
