HBCU campuses have long been a hotbed of sneaker culture, and sneaker brands have recognized them as such. From Nike’s Yardrunner line that continues this year with a pack of school-specific Air Max 95s to last year’s adidas Crazy 8 pack in school colors, America’s historically black colleges and universities have gotten consistent love. Now, national retailer DTLR is joining forces with New Balance for an exclusive 1000 colorway dedicated to all HBCUs at once.
The DTLR exclusive New Balance 1000 1000 Yards is described by DTLR as “a physical representation of our partnerships with HBCUs,” featuring a gold, green, and black colorway against a base of white mesh. The toe box and side panels are draped in waves of green leather, with white mesh sitting above it, and black leather surrounding the laces and tongue, which features a black, green, gold, and red logo.

“This homage is as lively as the campuses we strive to benefit, as we dress the sleek 1000 silhouette in a green and gold scheme inspired by and dedicated to every HBCU across the country,” DTLR says.
The New Balance 1000 1000 Yards will be released October 17, 2025 exclusively through DTLR in-store and online. Available in full family sizing, the retail prices are set at $150 (men), $105 (GS), and $95 (PS).
